The hanging school house lights came from the now closed Pontchartrain Restaurant. My family enjoyed the chicken fried steak but I found the fried chicken was more crust than meat.
The menu is super small which includes the main dishes: fried chicken, chicken fried steak, chicken tenders (good for the kiddos) smoked chicken (which was a little too salty for me) and the delicious fried catfish. The salad is bare iceberg lettuce covered in a very vinegary dressing. No dressing on the side here. Not only is it hard to find but it’s also expensive. The green vegetables are way over cooked.
Out in front of our building you’ll find a Hart Parr Tractor. Since 1974, the theater has featured Johnnie High’s Country Music Revue every Saturday night. It was soaked in brine, but that is what made it so moist.
