The 8802 was smooth with no marks on it. Their staff players are winning tournaments, and their golf gear is better than it has been in decades.Wilson Staff did a good job keeping this putter under wraps, saving it as the high point for their Centennial celebration. H) When Arnold Palmer left Wilson in 1963, Wilson took his name off the putter and renamed it The Wilson 8802. He said that the 8802 really requires you to let the head release to be effective.Slight-arc putters can probably come to terms with the arc of the 8802, but our straight path putters could definitely be at odds with the natural tendencies of the 8802.That being said, if you see one of these in your local shop, you need to give it a try. In english, the shaft is attached to the end of a thin putter head. 1975 – Wilson re-introduces the original 8802 and changes the stock number to R8802.

The old 8802 will feel so much better because of the shaft. The the good old days, real golfers feel the ball into the hole.Nowadays there’s face balanced, straight back and through, Aimpoint whatever… to make putting a very mechanical thing, and much less an art.Hacker, putting is still feel, perception, and distance control.

There is definitely a golf resurgence is underway at Wilson Staff.

C $201.03 Thanks Wilson.Best looking putter ever.

No, I'm not late to the party, reviewing a club that came out in 1963. it is amazing to putt this well. I have a full season of use with it has helped Lower my handicap from 18 to 12.8 in one season. When he left the company in 1963, Wilson removed the "Designed By Arnold Palmer" inscription on the sole and replaced it with Wilson 8802, referencing the catalog number of the putter. When Palmer's contract with Wilson expired, the Other than that, sometimes going back is pretty darned good.Maybe they’ll release 8813 centennial version for those who prefer a sight line?Like seeing an old friend you haven’t seen in 10 years:)I have tried the new 8802 and it’s not only a honest work of art it feels better than the Scotty and Ping..

Wilson Staff did a great job with the looks by staying true to the original design. Maybe it ties nostalgically into how they learned the game. I think this new version will answer a few issues so, I can hardly wait to give it a roll !Lots of opinions but only one guy who took the time to actually hit the new 8802 (flaglfr).Nice, but I have one of the remakes from 1975 in Left Handed, need to hit it on the button to get max contact, but a nice conversation piece. Then I saw this putter and remembered what it was to putt with one. One of the biggest reasons to game the Wilson Staff 8802 is the feel. Modern putter strokes tend to be straight-back-straight-through.

Every time I stand over a putt feels like it's going in and every time took to it like a duck to water.

Ordered online, no test. :O)Lots & lots of Kool-Aid here..
It is amazing of the two putters I offer, the stainless model has been reported as “lively” coming off the face.

I never had an issue with keeping the face square at impact. The face milling helps roll the ball pure and right on line. The new 8802 is work of art.

H) When Arnold Palmer left Wilson in 1963, Wilson took his name off the putter and renamed it The Wilson 8802. It was played by Palmer, Crenshaw, Norman, Mickelson, and numerous others who played versions of the 8802 design from other manufacturers. I’m not saying it is a universal fit. Custom Club makers would do well to differentiate themselves with shaft fitting options for putters.Go putt with the original and then this new one. After trying out my dad's old 8813, I decided to purchase this 2015 8802, and I am never looking back.

I have an old Wilson Tour Blade II that I rolled this one against.

Even better would be a design which uses no magnets or Velcro. The reasonably priced $179 Wilson Staff 8802 Putter is the most expensive putter in Wilson Golf’s lineup and for good reason. Hate its feel, hate its looks, hate it as the ball rolls to the bottom of the hole. That (imho) was why it failed in the 80’s remake they did.

Anyone know what this is?Can anyone tell me about my 8802 putter? It has no writting on it except for the number 8802.No other markings at all!I cannot say enough good things about this putter. So I figured the balance and weighting of this blade putter would be problematic for me.
