Built in 1911-1914, it is perfectly adapted to the modern requirements of comfort of a house of the beginning of the 20th century and remains the only testimony preserved in its integrity which allows to understand the functioning of a manshion of Parc Monceau. Parc Monceau was created in 1778 by Phillippe d’Orléans, Duke of Chartres who was a cousin of King Louis XVI. The Duke of Chartres commissioned the painter-writer Carmontelle to lay out a beautiful English garden. Situated on the boulevard de Courcelles in Paris and surrounded by fashionable town houses, the Parc Monceau was planned in the late eighteenth century in the form of an English garden. The financier Pereire raised mansions on the east, south and west sides, including the Cernuschi and Nissim de Camondo museums. As a lover of all things English, he wanted the park to be in the style of the day, inspired from the romantic English and German gardens. Located in a residential district, Parc Monceau is a relatively unknown park of Paris. The construction of Parc Monceau dates back to the 17th century, under the orders of the Duke of Chartres.
